Monday's animals

Let me tell you a little story...
On Saturday, Matt & I went to the humane society to drop off old blankets (that we were just going to throw away while packing) because we heard they needed some. I would do anything I could for the humane society, I've even volunteered there lately walking some of the dogs with my friend Tasha.

After we dropped off the blankets, we decided just to look and see what they had. Long story short, we found this brown German Shepard mix with the cutest ears and face. So we waited in the long line to "meet him" in the get aquainted room.

He was the cutest thing ever. We went in the room and sat down and he walked right up to us and crawled on my lap and started giving out kisses. Mind you, this is a 40 pound thinking he is a lap dog. Man was he a snuggler. We stayed in there with him playing and petting him and seeing how he acted for probably close to an hour. Then they took him back and we had time to "think about" if we wanted him or not. Duh, I bet you already know the answer to this.
So we sat out in the waiting room for probably another 30 minutes talking about him and the logistics of keeping him somewhere for the next week until we graduate and how we would get him home. We even named him (I can't tell you, I don't want you to steal our name) and it fit him perfectly. I told Matt that I wanted the dog for graduation and he agreed if we could figure out all of the logistics, he would get him for me. The place was closing so we had to leave and decided we would go back yesterday to walk him and see how he behaved outside. We also had a few more questions to ask, like if he had worms and was up to date on his vaccines. Well, we never made it back down there yesterday so we were going to go today. When I got on their website this morning, he wasn't on there anymore, so I called down there to ask about him. Turns out, someone adopted him YESTERDAY. I was so upset. I just bawled. I had fallen in love with this dog and I knew we should have gone back yesterday to see him.

This is me after getting off the phone. I was almost depressed, I wanted THIS dog so bad. Not just any other dog will do. I know there are lots of dogs out there that need a good home, but this one had me hooked from the first moment I saw him. He had big brown eyes and a black spotted tongue that gave millions of kisses. He would have made the best snuggle buddy ever, not to mention a good protector.

So for the rest of the day, I have been moping around, trying to pack and being sad. I could really use a hug (even though I've gotten about a million today from Matt as he's tried to comfort me). I had this gut instinct we needed to get him on Saturday and when we didn't I knew we needed to go back yesterday. Turns out, my gut was right. I'm happy he found a home, but I wanted it to be MY home.

Too much energy

I've been packing all day & I'm still in my PJ's at 5:30 pm. Its great. I haven't felt like doing anything. This packing thing is stressing me out...
How did I accumulate so much shit?

The New Bachelorette!

Miss Deanna Pappas is the newest bachelorette on the ABC show. Tomorrow night the show premiers at 9pm/8pm central and the lucky lady will have 25 guys to choose from. I'm happy she bounced back from what's his name (that didn't propose to either of them, the jerk). You go girl! I'm excited to watch this!

P.S. I guess I'm happy about Matt picking Shayne last week. I knew she was the reason he had his head shaved when he appeared on Dancing with the Stars.

Post Secrets on Sunday

I thought I would share a few of these since I haven't in a while (and I'm stalling on that packing):

I'm Alive!!!

I'm sure you were all wondering....
No, I'm not dead. I am however done with school! Finals are over, papers have been turned in, and some celebration was had. Also, during all of this madness, my computer crashed (ok, I spilled my starbucks double shot expresso light on the keyboard) and I had to have my keyboard, circurit board, and mother board replaced (twice). My loaner computer wouldn't let me on my blog, so I couldn't celebrate the end. Boo. I've been very very busy trying to get everything checked off my list so I can graduate and get out of here. I've had to go a million places for pre-gradutiion things and now I'm trying to pack (its not going so well). I'm also trying to finish up my scrapbook (of the last four years) before my open house next Monday & make another one for my Big Brothers Big Sisters family (shh its a suprise!). Wish me luck with everything...it has to be done by Thursday when my family gets here and the graduation celebration begins! Wooo Hooo for graduating!!!!!!

Season Finale of the Bachelor: London Calling

Who do you think Matt, 27 a global financer from London, will choose tonight on the finale (where he proposes)?

Will it be Chelsea, a 25 year old pharmaceutical sales rep from Colorado
or
Shayne, the 22 year old actress from California?

Who do you think he will pick? I think it will be Shayne but then again I could be wrong (I thought Chelsea was going home last time and look, here she is as one of the final two).

Watch the finale on ABC tonight at 10/9 central.

Class Is Over!!!

I never have to go to class as an undergraduate again!!! This morning I went to my last three classes and this afternoon I turned in my ethics paper. Thank goodness that is done! Most importantly, thank goodness the hell they call my education is over! Whoo hoo. I'm so extatic right now! I only have 3 finals and one more paper standing in my way. I can't wait.
19 days and counting....

Wishful on Wednesday

I've decided I'm getting a dog soon (don't roll your eyes mom!). I have done a ton of research on different dogs and breeds and whatnot. If you want to do your own, check out this site. My new house I'm moving into this fall only allows dogs that get up to 25 pounds, so I am very limited on the kind of dog I can get. The dogs that left in this under 25 lbs group are terriors, chihuahaus, pugs, beagles, some poodles or poodle mixes, yorkis, other prissy dogs (yuck), and this beautiful Shiba Inu. This is the absolute perfect dog for me! They are smart, clean, loving, and protective dogs. They were bred to be Japanese guard dogs. They look like a mix between a fox and smaller version of a sled dog (think pint sized husky). They come in red/tan, white, black, and any mix thereof. I like the little red ones. And I love the way their little tails curl up. So cute!! Here a few pictures of the breed:

I love when they "smile" and their eyes get all squinty!

See, he's just a little guy who wants some lovin'...

If want to learn more about the breed, you can go here. And make sure if you are thinking about getting a dog, go adopt one. There are over 6 million animals without homes as we speak, and many get put to sleep because there is no one to love and care for them. Buying from a breeder is no chic and most have turned into puppy mils where the animals are neglected or kept in horrible conditions. You can find dogs (or other animals) in your area that are just ready to be adopted and loved at Pet Finder . I've already found a few Shibas near my home that are adorable and need a great home. Hopefully within the next month I will be able to take one of this little darlings home!

I Won!

I'm so excited I won something on ebay & it was pretty much a steal! I'ts totally worth the investment! You're probably wondering what in the world it is huh? Its a personal die cutting maching for scrapbooking! You can make titles for your pages or cut out die cuts to decorate you're pages. And it only weighs 3 lbs so you can take it with you! It's perfect. Plus there are two font sets that come with it (which is why it was such a bargain). I'm so excited. Oh did I mention its PINK?

The actual tool
Font 1 - great for scrapbooking
Font 2- smaller letters which are great for hand made cards!
Now I can just buy a few more fonts for dirt cheap on ebay and I'll be set!

Never Ever Give Up!

The video doesn't want to work, so here is the website: Battle At Kruger

This little guy is amazing. If this doesn't teach you to never give up, I don't know what will. Thanks to my political science teacher for telling us about this.

To see more, go here

Stress Level = HIGH

In one week this school business will all be over! I can do 7 days...I'm just taking it one thing at a time and I like the satisfaction I feel when I cross things off of my To-Do List that is 2 pages long.

10 places you'd love to travel to (but haven't gone to yet)

(In no particular order)
1. Italy - I'm hoping to go this summer over leave to take a cooking class & travel around

2. Thailand beaches - they are supposed to be some of the prettiest in the world & my friend is going over leave this summer so I'm jealous

3. Asutraila - all over: Sydney, the outback, the Great Barrier reef

4. Africa - I'm going this summer (to Kenya) & I'm hoping to see some cool animals and maybe we'll get to go on a safari because I think that would be one of the coolest things ever

5. Germany & Asturia; Scotland & Ireland - I want to see my family's heritage and where we came from

6. Great Wall of China - I think this is something everyone should see

7. Niagra Falls (and maybe Canada) - I really want to see this at some point in my life

8. Bahamas (and all over the Caribean for that matter) - who doesn't love the beach?

9. Hawaii - I will be going...SOON (I'm thinking my next vacation, maybe Christmas time with the family?)

10. Nantucket & Clinton, Iowa - its where my hunny is from so I need to make it up there to see where he came from (hopefully this summer) and his family vacations up to Nantucket all the time, which is supposed to be beautiful
